The construction for forging press machine

2021-11-10

There are several ways to generate force with a forging. press machine, and there are two kinds of forging press machine normally used, mechanical forging press machine and hydraulic forging press machine. The use of each method depends on the type of final product and the speed of operation required. Each of the different types of names describes how they generate power.

The type of forging press machine can be further divided according to its frame design, which can be a straight side frame or a C-frame. The straight-side press has two sides, while the C-frame has an open side.

Hydraulic and mechanical forging press machine parts, though functionally identical, are different. The basic difference between a hydraulic and a mechanical machine is the flywheel on a mechanical machine.

1. Mechanical forging.press machine

Mechanical forging press machines are powered by a flywheel that stores energy from a motor or engine. The released energy from the flywheel forces the ram down onto the workpiece.

The construction of mechanical forging press machine will as follow:

I Flywheel: The flywheel powers the forge. The flwwheel is connected to the prime mover (electric motor or diesel engine) either directly or through a drive (belt drive or gear drive). The flywheel is supported by bearings. The speed of the flywheel is proportional to the productivity of the forged part.
I Board: The board is eccentrically connected to the flywheel. The mechanism converts the rotating motion of the flywheel into the vertical linear motion of the board.

I Ram: The ram is the connecting member between the forging press machine board and the upper half of the die. The plunger is guided by a lubricated guide shaft to maintain proper vertical motion.

I Die: the forging die is divided into two halves. The upper half moves up and down with the hammer, while the lower half is held in place by the anvil. The design of the die cavity determines the final shape of the forging.

I Anvil: The forging press machine anvil holds the lower part of the mold firmly in place. The stiffness of the anvil block is important for the proper operation of any forging press.

2 .Hydraulic forging. press machine

Hydraulic forging press machines create their force through hydraulic pressure from a fluid using Pascal's Law. A small amount of force is applied to the fluid which moves a larger amount of fluid to create the force that moves the ram to shape the workpiece. They operate slower than other forging
presses anc have longer contact with the workpiece..

The construction of the hydraulic forging press machine will as follow:

I Safety door: Safety door is the correction door.

I Limit switch: Limit switch limits the amount of movement beyond a certain point.

I Manual control valve: manual control valve can control the operationI Safety valve: The safety valve controls hydraulic pressureI Gauge: Gauge provides pressure reading.

I Hydraulic cylinder: The hydraulic cylinder applies a one-way stroke force.

I Oil tank: storage of forging press machine hydraulic oil in the oil tank.

I Pressure plate: The pressure plate applies pressure to the workpiece.

I Isolation compartment: The isolation compartment is the place where the forging press machine workpiece is placed for shaping.
